Education reform bill could exit committee as soon as this week, has votes to pass overall

Education reform bill could exit committee as soon as this week, has votes to pass overall: "NORWALK -- The governor's education reform package could make it out of committee as early as this week, though the bill might look different than expected.

Senate Bill 24, the omnibus education reform package rolled out by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, is currently still in the Education Committee and with multiple voting meetings this week and next a decision in the bill is expected soon. The language on some of the more controversial issues, including teacher evaluation and tenure changes, could change.

"(The language) is very much up in the air right now," said ranking Education Committee member Sen. Toni Boucher, R-26. "We have a couple meetings right now on that topic. There are pieces in there that have the teachers concerned because they're not clear.""
