Orange County school board member wants FCAT eliminated | www.wftv.com: "taxpayers pay a company $254 million a year for the test.
The company which oversees the FCAT, Pearson, has been fined $15 million for late results. They’ve also been sued for scoring errors and even had an investigation into international trips the company sponsored for state education leaders.
Last year, Orange County school board member Rick Roach took the 10th-grade level FCAT and failed the mathematics portion while getting a 62 percent on the reading portion.
“I have two master's degrees,” said Roach. “I teach 19 graduate courses in four colleges, and that had me as a poor reader.""

  1. I think we need to get rid of this FCAT,it is destroying our children.Back in the day, when i was in school we did not have this nonsense going on and we turned out very educated and college-bound. Let the teachers do the deciding. Those machines have made too many mistakes, deciding our children lives. The FCAT needs to be outed.
