Malloy must not veto school reform - Connecticut Post: "But whatever form that bill takes, it is certain to include some necessary reforms. If the bill at all resembles the version being passed around the Capitol last week, the governor needs to sign it.
It would seem obvious enough. But he has indicated he will do otherwise. That would be a serious mistake.
Some of this is political posturing. The governor wants something, and part of getting there is issuing threats and ultimatums. This, too, is part of the process. But it is clear by now that his version of school reform does not have the necessary support to pass the Assembly.
The version that will land on his desk will not, for instance, include the kind of tenure reforms Malloy was seeking. But the issue will not be ignored, either. One plan now calls for pilot programs and a phased-in approach, which is reasonable, considering how dramatic a change this would be."
