Malloy Wouldn't Sign Revise Education Bill As Is - Courant.com

This is far from over.

Malloy Wouldn't Sign Revise Education Bill As Is - Courant.com: "Gov.Dannel P. Malloysaid Tuesday that he won't sign the revised education reform bill as approved Monday by the legislature's Education Committee, but he added that those who drafted it agree it's not finished yet.

"Everyone who spoke on the bill yesterday said this is not the final product," Malloy said at a news conference at the Capitol. Noting that someone had said that the bill was "written in pencil," Malloy added: "Well, I'm not going to sign a bill written in pencil, I can assure you."

Malloy said he will pursue the plans he had outlined in his original education bill, including linking a new teacher evaluation system with tenure and establishing a commissioner's network for low-performing schools."
