NEWS FLASH: Malloy Hits New Low As He Misleads Minority Community on Education Reform - Wait, What?: "As we know, Malloy’s plan for the 25 lowest-performing schools is called the “Commissioner’s Network” and it allows his commissioner of education to take over those schools, fire the staff, ban collective bargaining, turn them over to unnamed third entities who will then be exempt from the state’s laws limiting the use of consultants and the state laws requiring competitive bidding.
The fact is that the State of Connecticut DID provide $1 million dollars when it took over the Windham School system, but nearly half of that money went to the salary, benefits and extra staff for “Special Master” Steven Adamowski. In addition, the budget to take-over Windham included $200,000 for a new reading module, but last week, at the direction of Adamowski, the Town of Windham’s Board of Education allocated $750,000 for a new reading module."
