Speak Out/ Show Up!

Our district-wide roadshow has proven one thing: TEA members have serious concerns about SB24 and they want to do something about it. Here’s your chance to be heard. Please wear your school spirit clothes and your green buttons and head over to:

Event: Dannel Malloy’s Education Reform Town Hall Extravaganza
*not to be confused with the “Dan Malloy, Friend to Education, ‘Get the CEA Endorsement’ Campaign” of 2010
Location: Wilbur Cross High School, 181 Mitchell Drive, New Haven
Date: Tuesday, March 13th, 2012
Time: 7:00-8:00pm (Doors open at 6:15—arrive early!)

CEA is planning a mass demonstration at the capital in April if the bill moves to a vote without modifications. Let’s get our practice this coming Tuesday night!

Car Pooling is Available!
Send an email to Tammy for details. Also, feel free to arrange your own car pooling within buildings.

This is your one and only chance at standing up and asking Malloy to answer for his shortsighted, under researched plan that aims to lower teacher standards and pay while opening the door for private companies to make millions in public tax dollars. Attendees with questions will be selected at random; so the more of us there, the greater the chances for our questions to be answered! Be sure to ask clear questions or make clear points about the flaws of specific elements of the bill. Supporting your question or comment with research-based evidence will strengthen your position.

Nothing can send a message like 500 Trumbull educators, who are parents and voters, all united at this meeting! If you are turned away by the fire marshal, stand outside together in peaceful protest! Have extra grading to get done? Bring it with you! Have a witty comment about the bill? Make a sign and hold it outside! The choice is ours to remain silent now and accept the consequences, or have our voices heard while we still can.

Potential sign ideas:

Keep Private Companies out of Schools!
What does your salary depend on?
I do MORE THAN SHOW UP!
I’m NOT an alcoholic!
I love my making a difference everyday!
Kids are more than TEST SCORES!
