Ideas to raise awareness of SB 24

From a Teacher:

Ideas to show publicly our non-support of the bill:

1. Read in- have teachers gather at their local library/coffee shop to read together the summary of the bill and discuss how it will impact their districts/students/children directly

2. State wide "black out" choose a day sometime before either the bill goes to the floor or the day it hits the floor to stand together in" mourning the loss of public education" in CT.

Even choose 1 day a week to show solidarity- have schools take photos and send/ post to local rep Facebook pages/ email

3. Flyer local parking lots- grocery stores, train parking lots, malls with general reasons why the bill is wrong for CT.

4. Bumper stickers/lawn signs to display publicly disagreement with bill

5. Gather during lunch periods to have a discussion about the bill for teachers who may not be able to meet after school.

6. Join forces together with other unions to make this a collective stance as teachers against the bill.

7. Have everyone email their local reps stating that they will loose their vote in an upcoming election if they support this bill.

Interesting if we could get the vote total from Malloys last run and take away the # of teachers in the state and see if he would have won?

8. Need a statewide website for teachers to provide information and how they can help have their voice heard against this.

Let's talk about implementing some of these ideas.
