Petulant [pech-uh-luhnt] - Wait, What?: "200,000 of Connecticut’s poorest children – in 30 of Connecticut’s poorest communities – and if Dan Malloy doesn’t get what he wants he would not only veto the legislation but will actually prevent the $39.5 million from going to help support the costs of running Connecticut’s schools.
Remember that the budget is a separate document from the educational legislation. It is the Governor who has decided to tie the two items so closely. The fact is he could veto the bill and still help Connecticut’s school children.
And we Democrats know that Connecticut’s Educational Cost Sharing Formula is $800 million to $1.5 billion underfunded leaving Connecticut’s cities and towns overly reliant on local property taxes – so overly reliant that our educational funding system has been declared unconstitutional."
