Dear TEA Members,
Your TEA leadership has been very busy representing you and keeping you informed. We would like to thank all the teachers that attended a Public Forum in New Haven or in Bethel. We would also like to thank all the teachers that took the time to attend a building meeting with the TEA Traveling Team.
· We need teachers to attend a Legislator Meeting in Bridgeport this Saturday at 1:00 at the North Branch Library. If you have not yet taken the time to attend a meeting on behalf of your profession, please consider this one. Let me know if you can be there for this important meeting with legislators.
· We need monetary donations ASAP! We have begun an advertising campaign about the negative effects of SB 24. We are not using TEA dues for this cause…we are concerned TEACHERS AND PARENTS about education….the message is stronger if it doesn’t come from the union. Please give your donations to your Building Reps and they will get it to me. If every teacher gives between $2-$5 we can run a few ads and perhaps send a home mailing to Trumbull families.
· They have reached a critical stage in the final draft of the bill which will come out of the Education Committee next week. Our job remains to influence the contents of SOB 24 (not a typo! LOL). We NEED you to call members of the Education Committee AT THEIR HARTFORD OFFICES ASAP and use the format statement attached. After the bill exits this Committee we will began working on all legislators.
· CEA is urging those teachers who are eligible for a professional certificate to do so now. Attached are important links dealing with all certification links.
· We also need all teachers to take the time to sign the petition:
I understand this is a lot of information in ONE email (but it’s better than getting 6 emails)…and it ASKS for a lot of you, BUT it’s YOUR FUTURE! It’s YOUR EVALUATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EVEN YOUR FUTURE SALARY DEPENDS ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE NEED YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND BE HEARD and VISIBLE!
